World Building Toolbox

One of my favorite parts of starting a new project is world building. It is a skill that some players and writers struggle with, and like most creative pursuits, is made more enjoyable through collaboration.

This a collection of previously released, GMless, world building games and maps, all bundled together into a single download. The games included will help you build the geography and anthropology of your imagined worlds, from the landmarks used to navigate, to the very stars in the night sky. Each game has different equipment requirements, and can facilitate different number of players. Use these with your players to discover more about your shared world, or use them on your own to build out your own place.

What you'll get:

Constellations : Print a template and poke some holes to create a night sky filled with stars using 1d4 and 1d6.

Mythcraft : 2-6 players create mythology from different points-of-view using dice and playing cards.

The Vehement Behemoth : A kaiju attacks and leaves a path of destruction. Roll 2d6 to find out what was destroyed, and how much of it is left.

Aftermath of the Arthropoid : A hex map created by playing a game of The Vehement Behemoth. 

Legends : Player take turns creating symbols or descriptions for a map's legend. Use the legend to create your world's map.

The Bitter Wastes : A hex map created by playing a game of Legends.

Royal Eulogy : Using items found in pockets, purses, and junk drawers, create a line of rulers and how they are remembered through the generations.

The Empires of Dyrte : A hex map created by playing multiple rounds of Royal Eulogy.
